NFL SURVIVOR RULES, SOCCER EDITION
If you've played an NFL survivor pool — also called an eliminator, knockout, or suicide pool — you already know this game. Every week, pick one team to win. If they win, you move on. If they don't, you're out. You can never pick the same team twice, and the last player alive takes the pot.
A Premier League survivor pool takes that exact format and points it at the EPL's 2026-27 season. In the UK and Ireland, where the game has run in pubs and offices for decades, it's called Last Man Standing. Same game, different accent.
Three things make the soccer version meaner than the NFL one: draws(there's no overtime in league play — about a quarter of matches end level, and in standard rules a draw sends you home), 38 gameweeks (more than twice an NFL regular season), and a 20-team slate that forces you to burn mid-table clubs on the road eventually. NFL survivor is a sprint. This is a marathon with trapdoors.
How It Works
Pick One Team Per Gameweek
From that gameweek's ten fixtures, back one club to WIN. You can change your mind until the first kickoff.
Win and You Advance
Your team takes three points, you take another week of survival.
Lose or Draw and You're Out
No overtime, no second chances. A draw counts as a loss unless your commissioner enabled draws-survive.
Every Club Only Once
Used teams are off your board — until you've burned all 20, when the slate resets (commissioner option).
Miss the Deadline, Take the L
No pick when the gameweek locks counts as a loss. Reminders by email and push keep you ahead of it.
Last Standing Takes the Pot
Outlast the pool and it's yours. If everyone left falls in the same gameweek, the survivors share it.

Start Anytime in 2026-27
The 2026-27 season kicks off August 21, 2026— five weeks after the World Cup final, right when you're missing having something on the line every weekend. Pools can be created and joined at any point in the season, so a pool starting at gameweek 10 works exactly like one starting at gameweek 1.
